the destruction that UKRAINE and other countries face daily is a challenge for every conscientious architect. we are losing cities, and in them our homes and our heritage.

there is no more time for long-term projects. we need to design fast, focusing on making informed decisions and implementing them. in the process, we must be guided by critical and creative thinking. my project padedo city & microns aims to solve the housing problems faced by refugees, migrants, emigrants, as well as their host countries.

the idea of ‘walking’, ‘plug-in’ and ‘instant’ cities/homes emerged on a similar background, where ecological and nuclear dangers overshadowed everyday life. it was the period of the cold war. however, at that time, were not enough technologies and fresh spilled blood for the impetus of rapid implementation and adaptation of concepts to the real human needs and society. today we have both.

‘padedo city’ – a city-motherboard  that caters to portable houses.

‘microns’ – portable houses.

‘padedo city’  can function as an individual unit, or be integrated into existing cities. The city will consist of platforms with an independent ecosystem that connects to newcomers – portable houses ‘microns’. The ‘padedo city’ has on duty administrative ‘microns’, one of which is a ‘center of developing critical thinking and justified decisions’. The city-motherboard is static and its designed based on the characteristics of the area and territorial legal and building restrictions, while maintaining its universalism for the quick connection of newly arrived ‘microns’.

‘Micron’ is a house that you can take with you. ‘Micron’ will be a maximum of 2 floors and with the possibility of adapting the structure to the specific climatic conditions and urban planning restrictions of the host region.

‘padedo city’ and ‘microns’ will be controlled by the synergy of artificial and natural intelligence.

The scope of such cities-plats can be the territory affected by the destruction, as well as the territories allocated by countries for the acceptance of refugees, temporary migrants, as well as emigrants who are forced or want to continue to live in their houses on other territories.

Municipal councils, public organizations, as well as international and local funds to support the affected territories can act as donors for such projects. The construction of such cities should not be the work of a separate group, but a part of governments programs.

‘padedo city’ is a digital city ‘microns’ are not houses on the wheels and is not a travel trailer – this is a full-fledged adaptive housing with its own ecosystem and built-in movement function, which are laid down at the design stage. This is a request for new methods and design organization using the latest technologies and artificial intelligence.

During the residence period, I want to get closer to artificial intelligence technologies and, based on their properties, create a preliminary design – the concept of the padedo city, which will include:

– functional zoning of the city

– concept of one fragment to which the duty ‘micron’ will be connected

– concept of one duty ‘micron’ ‘center of developing critical thinking and justified decisions’ (I think such centers should become an integral part of any progressive society)

– text scientific part based on a deeper immersion in the topic and a fundamental analysis of existing projects in this field.
